The illustrations about the exodus and the fast by the Ahava river, make the point that a fast marks a change, even to the point of changing the calendar. It's remarkable, this notion of fasting because we have faith that God has new things, that God wants us to have faith for the new things He has for us, that fasting is a time to listen for the new things God will tell us. It makes me curious.

It reminds me of the last in the Narnia series, where the animals are running up towards Aslan, and they cry out "higher up and farther in"!

Yes, curious to see what God has for me, what He will say to me,
and that scene from the Narnia books is brilliant - but I think we don't need to wait for the end of the world to go further up and further in. And that - eternity - is just too big for my brain.
